SIMULATOR
This shows a typical screen display from the River Simulator developed by Realtime
Information Limited for Meridian Energy Limited Southern Generation.
The blue areas represent lakes in the Waitaki Hydro Scheme along with the system of
connecting rivers and canals. The green/white boxes represent the generators at each
hydro station.
The GUI interface provides a simple yet powerful means of initializing the input
parameters such as lake levels, generator efficiency and catchment intake.
Once the initial operating conditions have been configured, a mathematical solver is
used to determine the optimum operation conditions for the next 2 to 7 days of generation.
